jay heck -BEING SONS director
Jay awoke six years into a ministry career to find that the profession of ministry had become an idol he'd been seeking life from. Hungry to find an authentic life and the true heart of God, Jay left professional ministry and took an unfamiliar path into the marketplace in 2002, working closely with his father. After fourteen years, becoming co-owner and CEO of a small company, Jay and his father sold their business, making the way for a healthier reentry into ministry. The details are precious, but the beautiful result was the death of an orphan and the resurrection of a true son.
Somewhere in this journey to sonship, Jay’s heart was rescued. The gospel began to make sense, he became his Father’s son again, and the joy from childhood began to return. He bought his first pair of flip flops and began wearing them to work, has become a happier husband and father, a sandcastle maker, a story teller, a frustrated backpacker and a rapt observer of God’s reflection in all things wild and beautiful.
As a founding member of the Alamo Band Of Brothers, Jay loves his roles as a conversation starter and warrior poet in a small group of amigos fighting to advance the kingdom’s borders. God shares with Jay His desire and mission to seek out and save His sons who’ve lost the trail. He loves to help equip masculinity in every age and stage. But above all else, Jay loves being a son.
“Give me a job teaching rebels your ways so the lost can find their way home.“
